In this exercise we were asked to get a range of objects that are man made and then also natural, once we’d done that we were to create a piece of art using one single tone using one material of our chose.
For this piece I decided to use coloured pencils due to it being the material I am most comfortable with using when coming to this type of art. I placed a plate down and placed two apples next to each other and sat to down from an angle I thought was be most effective when drawing. I decided to use red because it represented the colour of the main subject meaning the apples. Below is a picture of the result:

In this image I found it was difficult to use one colours to really show the difference between the objects and identify what was what, yet I think with the final result I worked well on showing the difference between the items. I do think that because I don’t have much practice in using coloured pencils when doing art so I don’t think the work I did is as good as it could be if I practice more in tonal work with coloured pencils. I do think the piece is good in terms of fitting the exercise yet I would like to come back to doing a piece like this and exploring more with using coloured pencils, normally when I do a still life sketch or sketch in general I just go to a standard pencil I never think about using colour but after trying out and getting a bit more familiar with this material I will do some private practices.
All in all I am happy with how this piece turned out and I think the piece fits the brief yet I do think with more practice in doing these types of drawings I will be able to do piece I’m more proud of and have more of a comfortable feeling when drawing.
